Talking about Jack Welch today.Going to have to work something out for a make-up day.

Most of the material in this lecture comes from Jack Welch’s books; Winning and Jack:  Straight From the Gut.

GE is heavily diversified.  Pick an industry, they’re probably involved in it.  Finance is probably their single biggest money field, but they’ll do anything they can win at.  Essentially, GE is a holding company.

Jack Welch is worth studying because he was CEO of GM for 20 years, and did a good job.  More than that, he did an excellent job of mentoring and coaching leaders.  Welch is the template for the modern American CEO.

He picks out his mother as the most influential person in his life.  His leadership style is pulled from her.
