Learning, September 25 2008

Filed under: General — Phillip Womack @ 9:49 pm

Meeting tonight.  Some discussion of adapting the class schedule.Need to get on my behavior observation.  That’s going to be due soon.

Some discussion of habituation.  Habituation being the condition of becoming so familiar with a source of stimuli that you no longer notice it.

There are two reasons why someone will not habituate to some stimulus.

  1. The stimulus is very inconsistent.
  2. The stimulus is very intense.  (Extremely loud, for instance.)

End of the habituation discussion.  On to learning.

Learning is a change in behavior due to experience.  Modified version:  Learning is a relatively permanent change in behavioral tendencies due to experience.
