Gov’t Financing, April 9 2008

Filed under: General — Phillip Womack @ 8:25 pm

Got our second test grades back.  86%, not as good as the last one, but good enough to be exempt from the final.  I’ll take it.Debt and Equity financing.

Important terms

  1. Equity Financing
  2. Debt Financing
  3. Venture Capital
  4. Angel Financing — Rich person helps you
  5. Loan
  6. Debt Security
  7. Collateral
  8. Lien — Attachment to property preventing sale.
  9. Prime Rate
  10. AAA — Highest rating on bonds given by bond agencies
  11. Bond — A debt instrument.
  12. HELOC — Home Equity Line of Credit.  Open-ended loan based on the equity you have in your home.  Second mortgage, essentially.
  13. FICO — Your credit rating.  Measure of a lender’s risk.

Angel Financiers are individuals who finance businesses from personal assets.  Often family.  Be careful with this.
