The Recruitment and Selection Process. Recruitment and selection is an ongoing process that takes time. There are six steps in this process.

  1. Plan and forecast positions to be filled — a position is a person in a particular job. Each position will be employment for a single person.
  2. Build applicant pool
  3. Application forms and initial screening
  4. Conduct tests, background investigations, and physical exams
  5. Send best candidates to job supervisor for interview
  6. Hire candidates

Workforce Planning and Forecasting is the process of formulating plans to fill current and future openings based on:

  1. Projecting expected job openings
  2. Determining if openings will be filled internally or externally

Forecasting Techniques

  • Trend Analysis
  • Ratio Analysis
  • Scatter Plot

When forecasting inside sources, you usually have a database or set of files on internal employees and can search through it to find appropriate employees for a particular position. That set of data is known as a qualifications inventory.
