The Recruitment and Selection Process. Recruitment and selection is an ongoing process that takes time. There are six steps in this process.
- Plan and forecast positions to be filled — a position is a person in a particular job. Each position will be employment for a single person.
- Build applicant pool
- Application forms and initial screening
- Conduct tests, background investigations, and physical exams
- Send best candidates to job supervisor for interview
- Hire candidates
Workforce Planning and Forecasting is the process of formulating plans to fill current and future openings based on:
- Projecting expected job openings
- Determining if openings will be filled internally or externally
Forecasting Techniques
- Trend Analysis
- Ratio Analysis
- Scatter Plot
When forecasting inside sources, you usually have a database or set of files on internal employees and can search through it to find appropriate employees for a particular position. That set of data is known as a qualifications inventory.
