News from Scott

Filed under: General — Phillip Womack @ 6:23 pm

A few days ago, I heard through the standard family channels that my cousin Scott had gotten himself into some interesting times over in Iraq.

A sniper shot his translator in the leg, and the bullet passed through, his Scott in his leg, and burned him. All the force of the bullet was spent at that point; reportedly, the bullet penetrated his pants leg, tapped him, and then rolled down his leg. Hot enough for slight burns.

Scott reportedly claims it’s the easiest Purple Heart ever.

I’m glad it’s not serious for him. I hope his translator is OK. This is the sort of thing that makes us nervous back here in the U.S.A. Intellectually, I think what we’re doing in Iraq needs to be done, and I’m glad we have folks doing it. But, just like when James was over there, I sure wish the folks I know didn’t have to be at risk.

Very proud of Scott, and James, and all our folks over there. I’ll keep praying for your safety.
